Well may I recommend getting your tooshies down to Sonic Cathedral on Thursday 25th May @ The Legion on Old Street to worship at the altar of the musical genres of ‘Shoegazing’, ‘Pyschedelia’ and other stuff (My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & The Mary Chain, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Kraftwerk). And if you don’t fancy the music just go for Happy Hour from 5 till 8 every night - hurrah!

And as for me, well what with it being so lovely and sunny this week I’ve ditched the bars, pubs and clubs in favour of BBQ’s in Brixton and Pimms in the Park, I suggest you do the same.  But if, like Marvin, you prefer to stay cooped up inside, then try Feeling Gloomy at the Bar Academy Islington.  They say “dress to depress”, come meet other melancholy souls and mooch about to sad songs by everyone from The Smiths, to Rolf Harris, Nirvana and Dolly Parton - joy!

Here are my top two things to do this week:

Take the edge of the start of the week with Parisian songsmith Sebastian Tellier @ The Spitz. With sweeping strings, piano loops and the odd singing dog, an audience with M.Tellier is guranteed to be blissfull, vibrant and more than a little bit bonkers.

Strapped for cash but can’t bear the thought of Saturday night in? No worries simply head to Bardens Boudoir and check out The 80p Festival which only costs…that’s right you’ve guessed it, 80p to get in. For just a few pence you get an eclectic mix of bands and DJs doing their ‘thang’ from 7pm till 2am -beats watching Strictly Dance Fever any day!

…but sadly some songs can also make it come to a grinding halt. So how will this weeks musical morsels from Monsieur Marvin shape up - will they get you a movin’ and a grovin’ or sticking your fingers in your shell likes?
